Checks and Balances: Topic Selection For this assignment you will need to choose a topic for your essay. Since your essay is about the checks of balances of the US Government, this means choosing a specific example or case study of checks and balances in action. This is what you will research and analyze for your essay. You can choose nearly any case study you would like, as long as it is at the federal level (an example that only involves the state of Washington without going to the federal level would not count). You must also be able to clearly explain how it involves multiple branches of government. You can choose an example of a situation in which the checks and balances system worked well and power was checked the way it should be. You can also choose an example of when you think the system did not work well and power was not checked the way it should be. Below is a list of possible choices for you. You can absolutely pick a case study that is not in the list, just be thoughtful about your choice. If you are not sure if an example will work, send me a message and we can discuss it.
