Why is it a concern that the oncoming nurse plans to take the infant to the nurse's station overnight and feed and care for the infant?
1) The infant should be taken to the NICU for assessment when not with the parents.
2) This will interrupt bonding with the parents.
3) Feeding formula can interrupt the infant's interest in breastfeeding.
4) Orthostatic hypotension is easily addressed by advising the patient to move slowly and ask for assistance.
5) For the mother to fully recover, rest is more important than bonding at this time.
