Tamara, a 42-year-old woman who works in real estate. She stated that she knew that she was going to sell 15 houses this month and began going door to door asking each person if they want to sell their house. She continued her door to door sales from 8:00 in the morning until 9:00 at night. She took her life's savings from her bank account and spent thousands of dollars on elaborate flyers and placed them in every mailbox on every street within a 30 mile radius of her real estate territory. This behavior continued for a two week period, before she fell into exhaustion. She became utterly depressed and would not get out of bed. She felt that her life was useless and there was nothing to live for. After 20 days of this behavior, she devised another plan to invest in real estate herself. She went to a local bank to ask for a loan. When she was denied the loan, she went to 20 other banks that day to secure the loan. At five o'clock, when one of the loan officers told her that it was time for the bank to close, she jumped up and started screaming that it was not time to close that there was plenty of time to do all that they need to do and she would not leave. The police had to be called, and she was admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
