The Russian Bolshevik Revolution and the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk had serious, negative consequences for the Allies and their overall war effort against the Axis Powers. Beyond accepting important territorial losses, the new Marxist government withdrew Russia (that was immersed in chaos and had suffered heavy losses) from the war, taking pressure from Germany that could direct more resources and troops to the Western front.
