In psychology, the term cocktail party effect refers to the phenomenon by which the brain can focus its attention on a particular stimulus while filtering out the other stimuli that are not relevant to it. This phenomenon happens especially at places where there's a lot of noice where the listener is able to focus his/her attention in one particular stimulus.
In this example, Lauren is at the airport waiting to board her flight, she initiates a conversation with another passenger but despite the noise she is able to focus on what the passenger is saying. We can see that she is at a place where there's a lot of noise but she is still able to focus her attention on the conversation she's having with the other passenger. Therefore, this would be an example of the Cocktail party effect.
