For using the substitution method , the value of a variable is taken in terms of another variable from equation 1 and substituted in equation 2

y = 22 -10x will be substituted in equation 2

2x + (22-10x) = -2

2x +22 -10x = -2

-8x = -24

x = 3

y = -8

The system of equation has finite solution of x = 3, y =-8.
