“The Wife of Bath Tale”
Lines 163-175: What would you predict about the Wife's tale based on the scene described in these lines? How might the Wife's inclusion of this passage be interpreted as an insult to the Friar?

( please help :( !!)

Respuesta :

The "Wife of Bath Tale" is a tale about a woman who believes that there's nothing wrong with having numerous husbands.

  • According to her, she loved the command in the Bible that people should go and multiply. In order to defend her statement, she stated that King Solomon had many wives.

  • She also stated that women want sovereignty and freedom in their marriage and should be able to do whatever they want.

  • The inclusion of the lines would have annoyed the Frair because the Bible doesn't support women having many husbands.
