In winter, your classroom is warmed by a heater. Your teacher asks you to close the window because "this will stop the cold from getting in". Explain what is actually happening to the flow of heat in this scenario.
When the window is closed the heat is trapped inside the classroom which is circulating around the room but when the window is opened, the heat is escaping so most of the heat is escaping rather than circulating the room.
