President Taylor was the 12th president of America, he was from the South and he died sixteen months after becoming the president. The southern states want slavery to be legislated in America but the other states kicked against this. President Taylor been a slave holder himself was expected to support them. But, the president did not do this, instead he sought sectional harmony between the warring states. 

President Zachary Taylor was from the South and Southerners thought he should support their cause on slavery since he was a slave owner himself.
