Sugar is a simple carbohydrate that comes in many different forms. The statement that sugar should be completely eliminated from a person's diet is false. Our bodies need sugar (or glucose)  for our health and all of the cells need glucose in order to function. The glucose is the body’s primary energy source. However, our body needs naturally occurring sugars, such as those found in fruit, and lactose, or milk sugar. Processed sugars on the other hand should be avoided as much as possible.
