The
First Great Awakening was the result of the Civil War which sprang up
Methodist and Southern Baptists in the south both for prior Caucasian
slave owners and for freed African American slaves. The thing is as a
result of segregation the freed African American slaves grouped together
to form their churches while the Caucasian prior slave owners kept
their churches "pure" meaning kept African Americans out of their
churches. The fact is that because there still are African American
churches in the south is proof of the segregation which had existed way
back then.
