The sentence that is least needed in the paragraph is C. 3. While the third sentence does help to elaborate onto Sentence 2, it does not add much to the passage. With Sentence 3, you would also expect to be told the situation, but are not. Sentence 1 is important because it provides us with an example of him hating peaches (which makes Sentence 3 less needed). Sentence 2 shows us the extent of Matt's hate for peaches. Finally, Sentence 4 makes a nice closing about Matt's future with peaches.
