46 = 40 + 6
17 = 10 + 7
First add 40 and 10 together
40 + 10 = 50
Than add the remaining, 6 & 7 together
6 + 7 = 13
Add 50 & 13 together (as it is much easier to)
50 + 13 = 63
63 is the answer
i'm not sure what the place value strategy is so i think you'll have to do it
