The geologic structure of the rocks in the Colorado is younger than those of Florida, as the colored rocks have a metamorphic fold, salt cored folds, and other force folds. The dominant rocks are gneiss, schist, amphibolite.
They may be formed about 300 million years ago when the rocky ranges were formed. While the Florida rocks have been formed by volcanic activity some 530 million years ago when they were part of african plate. As the Appalachian were eroded, sand and clay were deposited over Florida.
